Digga Expanding into US with factory in Iowa

YATALA company Digga Australia is on the cusp of a major expansion, opening a $1.25 million American arm that's expected to boost revenue by a fifth over three years. "It's a manufacturing Mecca over there," Digga Australia chief executive Suzie Wright, who will be moving to the US to head up the overseas branch, said. "It's an incredibly exciting time for our company and this move will broaden our global reach as well as allow us to be on the ground in the US and grow relationships there." Digga Australia chief operating officer Paul Taylor would manage domestic operations involving 200 staff. The new plant in Iowa has created jobs for 30 people, building gearboxes and augurs for the growing US excavator market, with a handful of Gold Coast staff to also relocate to the US - including two engineering and fabrication specialists and the vice-president of sales Alan Wade. The Yatala headquarters was expected to export sub-assembly components to the US operation, but Mr Taylor said it would also focus on "enormous growth prospects domestically in mining and infrastructure". |
